IT'S CHRISTMAS TIME IN THE CITY

One of the joys of being a stay-at-home Mom is afternoon photo shoots with other Mommy & Baby friends!! We got into the Christmas mood a bit early and decided to do a little shoot at the end of November after discovering Pinterest.com and all its wonderful ideas. As usual we couldn't do all the ideas because babies have a mind of their own so it was all about improvisation but I love them all and I hope you do too.

I cannot believe Christmas is in 9 days... eek feels like I haven't had a real chance to slow down and enjoy it. Check my Facebook page for more pictures from our shoot in a few days. Merry Christmas to one and all!!!

BELATED FIRST YEAR SHOOT

Lindz and I had big plans to do a first year photo shoot with Chase but we kept running out of time in between vacation and the lack of an apparent summer in Calgary. We finally got a lunch hour to do a few shots. Chase was feeling very serious that day but I think we still got some great shots. Enjoy!

No smiles here for Karissa while there are raisins to deal with...

This one just kills me!!

It was getting close to nap time and Chase was winding down

Mom, I'm tired, take me home please!

WINDY DAYS

I believe we picked the windiest day ever to go take pictures on the ridge along Panorama, overlooking the golf course. I love the effect of the ones without the crazy hair, it looks like we went out to the desert or the Grande Canyon. Calgary can be deceiving!

This one just kills me, this would be the best Halloween hair ever if you put spray in it!

Having a good laugh over the hair craziness

This one is pretty wild but I love the laughter! And just look at all those goregous hair tones

INTENSE LIGHT

I shot these pictures in RAW and jpeg but as I cannot figure out RAW processing on my computer I tried my best to bring back some of the color to these washed out pictures. The idea was there but as I look more Im not sure Im keen on the edge burns. The end result is also a little bit more fake than I would have liked but live and learn!

URBAN SETTING

All in the same general vacinity here is the more urban grouping of pictures. Who can resist a metal corrugated tunnel?

I like to call this one the supermodel pose!

PRETENDING WE WERE AT THE BEACH

Belive it or not these shots are all just down the road from my house in Calgary. It was another gorgeous sunny day in March but the wind was a little wild. What a dark haired beauty!

VERMILLION LAKES PART TWO

I recently picked up this backdrop from Michaels and was testing it out when Victoria was visiting. The light was not in my favor but the general idea I enjoy. I still think it will work best with newborns but my test subject is still pretty cute :)

Here are a few more shots from Vermilllion Lakes Road. I liked what the sun was doing in these pictures. Its a neat hazy effect. Im hoping the summer (even though it feels like winter right now) will yield lots of sun flares and haze

MY BABY SIS

Victoria came to visit almost a month ago now and we went out to Banff for the day for a semi-unsuccessful hike. We had originally thought to do Sulphur Mountain but it was waay too icy so we hit up Johnston Canyon instead. Good thing there was a railing because we held it the whole time and slid up and down the trail. It was still a gorgeous day out and we went down the Vermilllion Lakes trail to take a few pics with Rundle Mountain in the background. I have many more to edit but here are a few teasers!

STROLLING AROUND DOWNTOWN

Trying a different style here with the picture off to the left, not sure what I think yet but as I have no money to actually pay someone to design a blog for me I will continue to fumble my way through and decide which free style I enjoy the most.

Tina, who you shall become quite familiar with as she is one of my constant modeling volunteers, and I took another walk at lunch to check out Stephen Ave and surrounding alleys for possibly shoot locations. In the process I took quite a few pictures of Tina taking pictures but you get the idea.

The accordion player was my favorite! I was trying to get a picture of him staying still and the crowds swirling around him. Unfortunately I did not have my tripod so I had to lean against the pole and hope for the best. The weather wasn't cooperating either and since there was a huge wind storm happening there were no crowds outside either so this is the shot I had to make do with. Apparently not only are 80's clothes back in style but so is the huge teased bleached blond hair.. I shudder

We were getting into the Christmas spirit, checking out all the fun decorations and greenery I just thought this was a neat shot, I have never heard of this place before but it looks downtown hipster!

MY MUSE... AND SOULMATE :)

I spotted some new graffiti around town and convinced my husband to pose for me for a few fun shots. This was my attempt at shooting wide angle without a wide angle lens. I was pleasantly surprised.

I broke out the Lensbaby as it only seems to work in natural light and I was feeling it! Judging by Steve's stellar posing he was also inspired

Trying out a few "engagement" shots with myself and Steve, a remote and my tripod.. again liking the results

PRINCE'S ISLAND

Before Saturday's photo shoot Tina and I thought it would be a good idea to get out with our cameras so we hit up Prince's Island park on the only blue sky day of the week thus far. Lets face it, Calgary in the late fall is not the prettiest city ever, it's mostly just browns. We did discover the cutest kids playground and had some fun coming up with future shoot ideas... and might have had fun goofing around too.

I felt kind of like a creeper taking this little boys picture but he was just so precious enjoying the slide

There were also a few show off squirrels that were posing for us to take pictures

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Another successful Halloween if I do say so myself. We enjoyed getting dressed up and heading out on the town. Snapped a few pictures to show off the handiwork we fashioned after the likes of children's fairy tales and movies. You have to respect Tim Burton and his claymation version of The Nightmare Before Christmas, if you haven't seen it yet go out and rent it, it's a must-see!

LOVE OF MY LIFE

My husband, Steve (who will be figuring prominently into this blog) generally likes to ham it up for the camera but I caught him napping on the couch this weekend and couldn't resist taking a few peaceful shots..

Then later after he woke up he decided it wouldn't be right to not made a few faces for me. Classic Steve
